Indian Beach
This lovely spot is the north end of Ecola State Park, outside of Cannon Beach. It’s popular with surfers. That’s Tillamook Head in the background. You can hike a section of the Oregon Coast Trail from here to a viewpoint that Captain Clark, Sacajawea and a small group of men from the Lewis and Clark expedition saw as they crossed this headland in 1806 to buy the blubber of a stranded whale from Indians at Cannon Beach. Captain Clark said of the view, "I behold the grandest and most pleasing prospect which my eyes ever surveyed."
How cool is that?
