Hug Point

$30.00
Only 2 available

This little sandy cove beach is under water when the tide is high. Lots of little inland seas are left behind as the water recedes, so it’s good for tide pooling. In the background is Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, you can walk there when the tide is this low. Look closely and note the tiny figure in the middle of the drawing standing on the rocks. He’s walking along the old stagecoach road. Before the highway was built this was the route north and south along the coast! You can still see the ruts carved into the rock. Pioneers traveling along the “road” had to “hug” the headland carefully, thus the name.

Prints are on acid-free, archival paper and are printed locally in my neighborhood in Northeast Portland.

I have this in one size, can order larger sizes if you want. Email me!

View fullsize Perfect summer day for getting my ORU out for a kayak trip. Scappoose Creek has a very cool gizmo to launch the boat, see last pic. Mt St Helens looked like it was erupting again with billowing white clouds. Turtles and snowy egret.
Such a nice day.
View fullsize Yeah the elk are everywhere in Cannon Beach. This guy photo-bombed our sunset photos, then trotted off up the driveway!

View fullsize Oregon Coast never fails to impress, especially when there are minus tides, which we had every day. Love anemones. And starfish. Random elk visited us. Side by side comparison of my illustration and the view this summer, this year there’s no bi
