Alpenglow on Mount Adams

We came upon this view on our way back from hiking at Conboy Wildlife Refuge outside of Glenwood. a few miles north of here. The sun setting on the snow created incredibly vivid orange hues, and the three elk in the distance were an added dividend. Much of the mountain lies within a wilderness designation, which means there are tons of great hiking trails (the Pacific Crest Trail traverses the western flank) and not many roads.

This is the January image for my 2026 calendar. But you can also buy it on my website as an 11 × 14 or 13 × 19 print or a 5 × 7 notecard. Click here!
