The Columbia River Gorge

Portlanders are lucky to have the Columbia River Gorge right in their own backyard. A quick half hour trip gets us to Multnomah Falls. The gorge is 80 miles long and up to 4,000 feet deep, meandering past cliffs, spires, and ridges. In 1986 the corridor was named a National Scenic area – it’s the largest national scenic area in the United States. A network of (very popular) hiking trails is available, many head to amazing waterfalls.
