Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach

This is the classic Oregon Coast view: Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach (not to be confused with the one at Pacific City) is one of our most recognizable landmarks. It’s a basalt sea stack and the third largest intertidal monolith in the world, formed millions of years ago by lava flows. Part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge it is a state protected marine environment. At low tide, you can walk right up to it and find colorful starfish and other tide pool creatures.
